Matthew Gouveia

Biography
Matthew Gouveia is a Dora-nominated actor based in Toronto. After graduating with honours and receiving both the Dean’s and Board of Governor’s Awards from the Humber College Theatre Performance program in 2010, Gouveia has since been working in theatre, film, television and voice over. Highlights include: travelling to Mozambique, Africa with Shakespeare Link Canada to raise HIV/AIDS awareness, working with playwright and Order of Canada recipient, Judith Thompson, becoming a 3-time consecutive Toronto Monologue SLAM Champion, and being nominated for a Dora Mavor Moore Award for his portrayal of Chris Smith in The Coal Mine Theatre’s 2016 production of Killer Joe. Gouveia is also a 2017 alumnus of the CBC Actors Conservatory at Norman Jewison’s Canadian Film Centre where he developed the character Gabriel, who was featured in a year-end showcase. Gouveia was invited back as an adjudicator for the following year’s audition panel. On television, he has appeared on Star Trek: Short
